January 24, 2021
Dear Our Lady Queen of Peace Brothers and Sisters, This weekend we are launching here in our parish the 2021 Archdiocesan Annual Appeal with the letter from Cardinal Tobin regarding this year’s appeal. We have information brochures by the entrances of the Church for you to read. Of course, we have the Annual Appeal envelopes for you take home and return in the coming weeks with your generous donations! This year, the Archdiocese has given us a goal of $42,524 for the Annual Appeal. On the following page, you will see all of the many ministries that these funds support. In fact, as you fill up your envelope for the Annual Appeal or make a donation online, you can select and restrict your funds to only the ministries that you wish to support. There is a wonderful incentive that Cardinal Tobin is giving the parishes regarding the appeal - if we meet 100% of the goal in funds collected (not pledged) by June 30th, we will receive a 2% reduction in our parish assessment for fiscal year 2022! This would save us approximately $13,000 or even more in our assessments. Here is something more. Any funds collected in excess of our goal will be returned to our parish to assist us with our needs. I am, therefore, asking and appealing each and every one of our parishioners to make it our aim to reach our goal or even exceed it by June 2021. In doing so, not only are we supporting the greater Church but we will also be helping our parish save 2% in assessments for Fiscal Year 2022. What if we don’t hit our goal? I want to make this as clear as I can. If we do not meet at least 85% of the goal in funds collected by June 30th amounting to $36,145, our parish will need to make up for the shortfall as an expense with payment due by September 30, 2021. In other words, if we do not meet at least 85% of our goal, we are required to make up the difference. My heartfelt prayer is that you will sincerely understand, my dear OLQP parishioners, why we need to take all our efforts to reach our goal. I am entrusting all this to Our Lady Queen of Peace knowing that Our Blessed Mother understands and hears the prayers of her children! I thank you in advance for your support and your generosity. May Our Lord grant you the hundredfold of His blessings in return! Sincerely in the Lord, Father Tony ----- For more information about this year's Annual Appeal, please read the bulletin below. Thank you and God bless! |
